I have a 15.6" laptop (the maximum size listed for compatibility with this stand) and I wasn't when I ordered the stand very carefully. It's only 6.5 inches wide and that's what the description says. However, the picture in the description suggests that 6.5 inches is the distance between the inside edges of the boards, when in fact it is the distance between their outside edges. Internal size 5 inches. Also, the photos in the descriptions most likely represent laptops with a screen diagonal of less than 15.6 inches. Since my large laptop is only supported in the middle, it wobbles a bit when typing. However, this thing is well made, sturdy and easy to fold, all materials feel solid. It makes it more convenient to watch movies on my laptop. And I couldn't find a similar stand that was significantly wider, so I decided to keep this one.
