Review on DEWALT FLEXVOLT ADVANTAGE Grinder DCG416B by Hassan Tomlinson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great grinder, instant shut off makes a big difference

I use a portable grinder for the quite often Work , punching of rebar and sheet metal . The grinder is a fairly simple tool, all it does is spin a cutting or grinding wheel, so it's hard to see how it can be improved much. This tool greatly improves the technology of older grinders. First, the performance of this tool is excellent. Just as strong or maybe even stronger than many corded grinders. The downside of this, of course, is that it drains the batteries fairly quickly. A fully charged Dewalt 2Ah battery will last several minutes, while a 4Ah battery will last around 8-10 minutes. I don't have Flexvolt batteries so I couldn't test how they work, but even without Flexvolt the performance is more than adequate. But what really sets this tool apart from any other grinder I've used is the safety shut off feature. special feature. Abrasion, cracking, and breakage of grinding blades are instantaneous on a regular grinder when the blade binds (which is very easy to do with long straight cuts when cutting something with weight such as rebar). This tool instantly cuts power to the blade and it stops - quicker than I can tell. This does two things: First, it prevents things from flying off and hitting and potentially hurting you. It's worth buying for that alone. Second, it SAVES the blade. When you cut with this tool, the blades will last much longer because they don't regularly wear out, crack or break. Although sanding sheets are relatively cheap, I can already say that this tool pays for itself in reducing or eliminating tool-damaged sheets. Very happy with this grinder!

Pros
  • E-CLUTCH shuts off DEWALT angle grinder's motor in less than a tenth of a second when a pinch/stop is detected
Cons
  • So far so good
