Details are important!

cooling is good - why only an average rating? The details of this unit have not been fully thought out. Once you've lugged this really heavy device into your home, you'll want it to be easy to install. The required duct system, using patented couplings, is too short, making installation difficult. If you don't have easy access to a low window and you store the device right there, forget about placement flexibility. Attaching zip ties provides an easy connection, but forget about adding extra lengths of duct to move the unit farther into the room (so furniture doesn't get in the way) or attaching it to a higher window, since you'll have to destroy the large one cable ties and tape. Piece together - which is totally unsatisfactory for either maintaining a chilled environment or looking good. I contacted Delonghi looking for a connector or some other method of lengthening the canal. They were utterly useless. It can be a simple accessory that they can make and suggest. The next point is the length of the power cord. The instructions specifically state that you must plug directly into the outlet without an extension cord. God forbid you don't have an outlet near that low window. Let's talk about the remote control. It has the neat feature of broadcasting temperature and humidity information from wherever the remote is, so even when it's cold around the base unit, the device continues to cool the air. But the remote control is extremely sensitive to everything around it, changing settings without you knowing. The panel with the window is pretty good, although it's a bit wider than most brands (it has a round release versus many that have an oblong opening) and difficult to attach securely (no way to screw or secure except through gravity and a wraparound window , jamming). Most units direct the air horizontally and then point the louvers up. This unit blows cold air up and out, which is more effective for cooling a large room. Next comes the time it takes to cool the room - if you have a very hot room (after all, this unit is supposed to cool 700 square feet) it will take about 6 hours to cool the room, so start early if you're planning a company that evening. So why not get 1 star? The device works, the attachment points are strong, the optics are pleasant.
