Review on ☕ Apexstone Coffee Scale with Timer: Precise Brewing Companion for Pour Over and Espresso by Brenda Young

All the features you need for draft coffee

I bought this for making coffee at a Chemex. I thought I could do without it, but it's just super inconsistent watching it every time. So I checked and saw on Reddit that people like this scale as long as you don't spend $100 on it. I can't say anything about the accuracy because I don't have anything to test. But given my usage, it doesn't matter since coffee brewing uses relative measurements. A downside is that there is a delay of about a second before it registers a bulk change. So that's what you need to take into account if you need to add more coffee and stop pouring a second or so sooner. Another small issue is that the scale mat is quite flexible. Reminds me of those super cheap phone cases. Works well, just feels cheap and keeps wobbling when you move the dial. But otherwise it's perfect. The screen lights up when the mass changes. Briefly press the button to zero the scale. A timer (actually a chronograph) is useful for waiting for the earth to bloom. It would be nice to have a separate button to reset the timer (instead of a long press), but oh well. I recommend without hesitation.
