Do you have a business that requires outdoor WiFi? Or a large garden and you want to transfer WiFi to the street? It's an extremely durable (heavy, all-metal) wireless extension of your network. This is the same durability you might see on your power meter outside your home. The side inputs are for Category 5 cable entry directly into the box (so you don't have to make sure the device is within range of an existing wireless signal). When we placed it outside of our home and connected it to our existing router, we were not only able to access our WiFi network in our own backyard, but also a few houses further away than before (we live in an area with a lot that ranging from about 0.2 acres to 0.3 acres).
