Check Engine Light - OBD 2 Fault Code P0449

So far so good. My 2007 Impala had a check engine light and OBD 2 error code "P0449". Installing this part seems to have fixed the problem. Please note that you may need a connector harness (adapter) when ordering this part. The connector on this solenoid was different than the one originally installed when I first got the car in 2007. So I couldn't plug it directly into an existing wired jack. I ordered the Revain recommended jumper harness, part number. 19257603 and everything worked. It connects to the existing cable on one end and to the new solenoid on the other end. I started the car, cleared the OBD 2 DTC and didn't see the check engine light after several starts and about 15 minutes of idle. I'm sure this solved the problem, although it didn't. It's been a long time since it was fitted, for the following reason: a few days ago I replaced the gas cap hoping that would fix the problem. The gas cap was 10 years old and quite worn. The seal is pretty cracked. I cleared the code, restarted the machine a couple of times and let it idle for about 10 minutes before the light came back on. After installing the replacement solenoid, the light didn't come back after about the same idle time, so I doubt it will light up again. But I'll update my review if that happens. In addition, the installation was very easy. It's even easier if you don't have a faux dual exhaust interfering with the muffler and you don't have a rusty bolt holding the solenoid mount. You don't have to jack up the car. Eye protection recommended.

Cons
  • Slightly Cracked
