So the only reason I bought this kit was because Elegoo advertises it as a "starter kit" the main value of which lies in the CD that claims to be useful information on getting started with Arduino -Projects contains. However, there was no CD or instruction manual, meaning this "starter kit" wasn't a starter kit at all. It's also not for advanced users as it's a solderless setup, which is really only a benefit if you think you could make a mistake. If I had known I was paying the same price as Leonardo but getting essentially nothing but an Uno and a few consumables I would definitely have looked elsewhere. Apparently some people got what they paid for, but apparently the data disk is out of date. So if you're like me and want to learn, go ahead and buy from a more reputable company.
