Review on Sony ICF CD815 Stereo Discontinued Manufacturer by Laura Thompson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good quality product but not perfect.

If you need to be able to play CDs to wake up or go to bed, this is the best product. This gives alarm clocks a whole new dimension; It reads CD-Rs and CD-RWs, so you can burn your own CDs with your favorite music or ambient sounds to fall asleep and/or wake up to: you can also choose the CD title it starts with. I LOVE this feature. You can also activate the radio or the buzzer. Technically it is a bit old, but if it were more modern it would not have the high build quality of this machine. I choose the latter. I'm glad I bought this version with a large bright LED watch display. Later versions of the Sony Dream Machine use a backlit LCD screen. I've always had trouble reading LCDs, even at a slight angle. As a music lover, the stereo sound quality is very good for a clock radio with two 2-1/4 inch speakers. The Bose Wave radio version with CD player costs $500.Another plus is the presence of a mini stereo audio input for MP3 players or some mobile phones.Radio reception is only average. The tuner wheel is very sensitive, so it takes some time. "tap" to tune to a radio station. Most of the controls are very intuitive and you can easily operate them even at night once you get used to the layout. The large snooze bar is very practical. The controls were so easy I really didn't need the instructions - plus. The clear exception to the intuitive and well-designed controls is changing radio stations and adjusting the volume, the main downside of this device. I was amazed to see that this has a very small mechanical tuner knob for AM and FM, awkwardly placed on the side and not illuminated. Because you have a mechanical tuner, you don't have preset stations, and the tuner information doesn't show up on the front display, I have to take my watch and turn it, turn on the light, and put on my glasses whenever I want to get into the settings change. radio station. For this purpose, I keep a small bunch of keys on top of the device. The volume knob is a wheel on the far right on the back, and I tend to knock the radio tuner over when I reach for the volume knob; but it gets better as i get used to it. Overall I am very happy with my purchase.
