First I installed a Masterlock camera in my Toyota Tacoma's suspension and connected a 4 pin electrical connector to the trailer circuit. This part of the work was a trifle. Then I looked for a way to mount the monitor. I tried mounting the suction cup to the windshield but found that while the suction cup shaft appears flexible, it is actually a flexible piece of plastic covering in the form of a rigid rod. This prevented me from positioning the monitor in an acceptable spot. I also found the vent clip flimsy and unsatisfactory as a permanent attachment. I ended up building my own mount by moving the monitor around the booth to find the spot with the best image quality. Unfortunately, the image quality is usually poor in the best position. There are times when you see an image, but even then there is a lot of flickering and image instability on the monitor. If the camera is removed from the receiver and attached to the rear door with a magnet, the image quality is greatly improved. So the main problem is that it's not a good idea to broadcast a signal from an antenna that's inside a steel tube. My receiver hitch is closed except for a 3/8" tool hole in the back, so I tried drilling a few extra 3/8" holes in the rectangular portion of the hitch without weakening the design, but I don't have any great image improvement achieved. qualitative. My next step would be to remove the receiving antenna from the monitor, connect the coax cable to the monitor and run it to the common receiver coupling area and reinstall the receiving antenna at that point. Therefore, the transmitting and receiving antennas are in close proximity to each other. This seems to improve picture quality, but despite my best efforts, I might as well install a wired system and get rid of the interference issues entirely. BTW, I don't have a Bluetooth connection myself, but my home WiFi seems to be interfering with the system, as do nearby vehicles' Bluetooth systems in traffic. Another complaint is that the monitor automatically switches to channel 1 when the truck is started. I have to go through channel 2, channel 3 and finally channel 4 to get the picture. Basically PIA. In general, the Masterlock rear camera performs poorly in practice, despite some desirable design features.
