I found the lock/unlock pretty easy to use but my family members didn't have that ease. I suspect they have a hard time pressing the bottom button along with the top button and then lifting the gate to open it, making it a three step process. Also understand that alignment is important as you will be using opposite hands for each side of the gate for easier use. The gate itself seems strong enough once installed, but I had some difficulties installing it. For some reason the clamp screws are not tightened to the end. You will hear a "click" sound when you reach a certain level of tightness, as if it should be. I prefer to control the tension myself. The big problem was that I had to push the locking mechanism against the locking hole to properly tighten the clamp screws as far as the tightening limit would allow. That way you hold, press and release to get a good wall print, which I see as a problem for those who aren't that strong. Hello yellow brand! Remove the snap system and use standard turnbuckles. I know there is no such thing as a perfect gate and it's better than my previous choice which had a much shorter opening and no automatic closing.
