Sturdy but not perfect

The stand is solid and solid, but I found a few design issues. First, it's a ceiling mount. I think most people will intend to screw it to one of the wood beans. The screws provided had plastic dowels in them, suggesting it would be screwed into brick/concrete. There were 2 options: either a vertical drop that allows the rack to rotate 360 degrees (I ended up using that one). The problem with this option is that the tube isn't securely attached to the mounting plate, which allows the TV to accept the slightest touch - unless it's at the dead center of the plate, the bar hanging at an angle other than 90 degrees. As far as I can tell an alternative mounting option is to mount it on a vaulted ceiling or even a wall mount as the pole can be adjusted 90 degrees (in 30 degree increments).

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • unreliable

Great if you have a machine shop and an assortment of hardware and 1/64th sockets lying around
