MUCH better than most breakaway collars!

We bought two of these collars for our cats - we're tired of the cheap tear off collars sold at Petco and the like. We always found them lying around the house after (we suspect) the two got into an argument and after one of them disappeared outside with a rabies stamp we decided we'd had enough. The supplies showed they all wore the same ridiculously flimsy collars. The clasp does not withstand even the slightest pressure. OK, I understand that Fluffy could get her collar snagged on something outside and be unable to limp over to her plate, and that a strong collar can hold her there until human help arrives to calm her howling. And if help doesn't arrive and Fluffy suffers emotional and/or physical harm from being restrained by the collar, both the company that sold the collar and the company that made it MAY be held liable (in the eyes of a visibly weakened judge/jury). ). Therefore, shops may not want to wear thicker collars. I understand. So I ordered this type of collar which has held up well to our cats so far. It has an elastic band that allows the collar to stretch when extra force is applied (and if you've ever tried walking a cat on a leash, KNOW they can apply "extra force" when needed ). The material is a durable polyester fabric that will likely last for years. The only reason this product didn't get five stars is that I find the ribbing to be relatively brittle and I see it wearing out quicker than the rest of the collar. The good news is that it's easy to pop in a spare band to replace it, or better yet, add an extra band NOW to strengthen the collar, extend its life, and still protect the wearer. In any case, we don't expect to have collarless cats any time soon. A good product!
