The leather of the vest is soft and elastic. I really like the weight which I wouldn't call light but can be carried in the summer. Two advantages for me were the V-neck and the jacket pockets. The inner pockets are quite large and well placed. The only downside for me was not having a zipper lining to sew in patches. Judging by the description and the questions, some people do and I just haven't had any luck in that regard. Overall I am very satisfied and glad I spent money on this vest instead of getting a lower quality one.
