Review on Metra 44 UA42 Amplified Discontinued Manufacturer by Nick Morales

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I have success with that. not many reviews.

I don't want to disagree as another reviewer said the quality is very poor and not suitable for harsh climates, but I don't think it beats any other shark fin antenna I've tried . The gasket is decent, the plastic is cheap and feels flimsy, but unless you hit it with a hammer I don't see this antenna suddenly "going bad". I installed it on a 2004 Dodge Sprinter. The Sprinter's antenna location is on a relatively curved part of the body, making fitting longer/deeper shark fin antennas a real challenge. Because this little guy's footprint is so small, it stuck well to my car. Haven't worn it for a very long time (3-6 months) but haven't seen any signs of leaks yet (it's over the headliner so I can only expect discoloration of the headliner). There is no moisture in the area underneath this guy and I tested it for leaks with a garden hose before resealing the inside. Star. Just thought I'd post this to share my experience. This, along with other Metra products I've used (mainly stereo plug adapters), has been pretty good.

Pros
  • AM/FM
Cons
  • Obsolete model
