I have been using a reverse osmosis system for over 40 years. I installed Watts Blue Boy about 5 years ago because city water was getting worse every year. I also installed a Watt Blue Boy with a 5 micron Hydronix filter between the house and the water softener tank. The garbage collected is really annoying, to say the least. I stopped using commercial water softeners because the suppliers, three different suppliers, were using my water system to flush spent tars and industrial waste from their tanks. I then got rid of the commercial soft water tank and now find that my city water system is not providing reliable drinking water. Periodically, my whole house filter and 5 micron first stage reverse osmosis filter capture what you see in the attached video. I have found steps need to be taken to provide their own filtering facilities as the city refuses to try and test what you see in the video. I believe whole-home filtration is a good start to visibly identify most contaminants in the water. In the near future I will expand my filter system with additional filter stations for the whole house. Clean water is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain through municipal water supplies.
