Beautiful design, heartbreak when design is NOT ENOUGH

This item was highly sought after as it looked very sexy. Unfortunately there were flaws in the laser cut design as modules that came loose (due to heavy waxing and grinding) would jam when combined with other modules. An extreme example of this that could be cured is a hood covering moving engine heads. It's truncated a bit too long in the design, so every part of the combined hood - [see the photo of the hood to get an idea of how much work it took to put it together correctly] - had to be filed to do that end so that the hood closes properly. The flat center section in the center of the hood had to be sanded to properly mate with many of the above parts that make up the hood. After putting everything together and towards the end getting more and more annoyed with the idiotic design, the winding-related controls got stuck, preventing the rubber band motor's power from being properly transmitted to the wheels. The roadster cannot move. With over EIGHTY of these 3D wooden puzzles on my account, I am sorry to report that the design of this particular set was flawed because I know how to follow the instructions. I can even do minor repairs to keep the devices working. But I can't get over the design flaws that the product's creator laser etched into planks of wood.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No performance
