Review on 6ft White Cable Matters Mini DisplayPort to DVI Cable - Thunderbolt 2 Compatible by Joseph Elvis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great cable that does what it should and at a good price.

I have 4 machines connected through a KMV switch with the same LED monitor, keyboard and mouse. The first 3 are workstations that use DVI-D or DVI-I and the fourth is a laptop that my office emailed me to use (Win7 and VGA only). Since my monitor (1920x1600 and I like it anyway) doesn't support DVI-I, I used a lot of adapters, but had to give up and use a separate VGA cable that goes straight from the mouse to the monitor's DB15/VGA port, while the other 3 (through a KVM switch) are connected to the monitor's DVI-D port. A few days ago the office laptop died and I received a replacement that has a mini display port. I bought this cable and now I've given up the direct connection and can route all 4 video signals through the KVM switch. The cable looks exactly like the photo (I know some people have reported it doesn't look like it) and it works exactly as expected :-) So for me this cable is a VERY time saver as I keep my hands on now can the keyboard to press the manual switch on the front of the monitor (to change the input connectors). So I would say if you need this cable, you really need it VERY URGENT and it should meet your MDP (Mini Display Port) to DVI needs. ---------- ---------- I was about to post this review when I received an email from my office. I'm accepting a project for which I need a 4Kx2K monitor. Once I have that I'll post and let people know how this cable works (I'd like 3840 x 2400 but reasonably it looks like I'm using 3840 x 2160).

Pros
  • DVI cable
Cons
  • poorly thought out
