I just bought this mic and tested it last weekend. The bottom line is that it's cheap to my ears compared to my EV RE20 for a lot less money than the RE20's cost. Both microphones are solidly built and clearly designed for heavy use. Both deliver a nice clear sound that is well suited for vocals. I mainly use these two mics for voiceovers and I don't notice much of a difference between them. EV can be a bit stronger in the upper mids, but as I said, I'm not hearing a good sound. handling difference If, like many of us, you find yourself in a noisy room, it is better to use a quality dynamic microphone like this one, as it does an excellent job of canceling out ambient and room noise. Both mics need a lot of gain, and you need a preamp for each to get good sound. I recorded both mics directly to my computer through my Zoom H4N recorder as well as through the PreSonus Audiobox interface and the sound was excellent in both cases. In short, I don't think you can go wrong with any of these great mics. The EV RE20 is of course a tried and tested standard for radios around the world, so you simply can't go wrong with one. However, if you're on a tight budget I'd recommend considering the Rode as an excellent mic for a lot less money. In short I love both of these great mics and if you are looking for a good podcasting, broadcast or voiceover mic you won't regret buying either of them.
