Can't pass HDMI signal up to 150 feet

I bought a Monoprice unit hoping to use it a full 50 meters (164 feet) with a MacBook Pro as my video source. I purchased two 164 foot Cat 6 cables from Blue Jean Cables (custom made to this length). JVC only showed the message "no input". I've tried unplugging the HDMI cable from the laptop and plugging it back in, turning the receiver/transmitter box on and off, but there's still no input. I went into the display properties on the MacBook to change the optimal resolution for all available configurations, but still haven't entered anything. I then used a short Cat5e cable (5ft and 20ft) and both cables worked fine so I figured it was the new 164ft. Bought cable. I went to a local store and bought a 150ft UTP Cat5e set and got the same no input result, but this time I hooked it up to a plasma TV. So both 164ft Cat 6 and 150ft Cat5e didn't work, but shorter cables did. The manual says it can climb up to 50 meters. I couldn't reproduce HDMI extension claims up to 50 meters.

Pros
  • Easy to install, just plug in and go!
Cons
  • boring packaging
