I bought it for my cat. Wanting to go outside, he attempted to run several times, usually ending up in a nearby shed or under her deck, this became a regular problem. I received this in the hope that if we went outside regularly it would reduce his attempts to free himself. He's too nervous and scared easily to trust himself. There is also a city ordinance that does not allow dogs or cats to roam freely in the neighborhood. So, after a slow process of getting used to the dishes; I fed him cat food, giving it slowly, one zipper at a time, and then for a long time. Finally, he sat tensely by the bowl, staring at me as if he'd traded his soul for some food. The advantage of this harness is that it should not slip over your head. This is one thing my cat does NOT want, but the neck piece is also looser than it should be. Fortunately, he didn't actively try. to take it off. We ended up going outside for a test drive and shortly after, the harness became his favorite sight. He enjoys spending time outside, breathing the air, rolling on the concrete, and wandering through the grass until something other than grass grazes his little toes, at which point he jumps up, startled, and rushes back to the sidewalk. Overall it is well made and feels comfortable to wear and easy to put on. I can recommend for a small dog. I wouldn't recommend this for every cat, if your cat is actively trying to get out of the harness they will find a way, especially since the neck doesn't fit the cat's neck.
