I bought one but the dials didn't work properly so I contacted Amazon for an exchange. When the second arrived and worked the same way, I realized it was user error, sat down and looked at the illustrations above the dials and played around with it, realizing it had to be done in a certain order - just for that case you did had the same problem (I didn't get it from the guide). So I decided to keep both and give one to an elderly family member with arthritis (I just quickly explained to her how to use it). It's great, easy to use and works well. I would caution you against cleaning it while wearing cut resistant gloves because I cut myself into pieces that shouldn't be sharp but weren't rounded or smoothed. Also, wash it immediately after use for easier cleaning. By wearing gloves and following directions, I trust my teen to use these instead of a knife. I am satisfied with this item.
