Review on Effortless Wine Opening Made Easy with the Brookstone Compact Wine Opener by Eldrick Carlton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Heavy and durable corkscrew and opener

This opener is a replacement for a similar plastic opener we had. This one died after about 5 years of heavy domestic use averaging about 4-5 bottles a week. This is almost entirely made of stainless steel, very heavy and quite durable. I expect it to last a lot longer if I swap out the screw a few times before the rest of the unit wears out. However, it is a bottle opener. How does this happen? It is excellent. It's the fastest knife we've ever owned, and that's saying something. We have used classic corkscrews, both single and double, butterflies, rabbits and simple two-tooth pullers. We have had and used 2 pressure openers, one with a cartridge and one with a pump. Plus the aforementioned plastic version of this bottle opener. We have opened over 900 bottles with all these openers in the last 3 years. The fact that I just paid $40 for it should tell you everything you need to know. Of course, the simple two-hinge or two-prong model is more portable and they're fast, but that's not what they're made for. and speed and ease. I'll reach for it every time. You will not be disappointed.
