This is the correct sensor to send ambient temperature information to electronic rearview mirrors with a compass/temperature display on a 2001 Suburban 1500 LT (and other Chevy/GMC models with this accessory). although I couldn't find an exact match to the part number I found on the OE and the clip configuration on this one was slightly different. However, once I was sure it would fit properly into the OE electrical connector, I simply cut some material off the back of its mounting bracket to allow the new sensor to seat securely/completely in the OE bracket. It's made very simply, it doesn't affect the work in any way, except that the original had an extra clip that prevents the sensor from rotating in the mount. This sensor is located on the driver's side in front of the combined condenser/AC cooler next to the much smaller transmission cooler. very easy to find/access once you have removed the front grille. Do not confuse this sensor (as I did at first) with another very similar sensor located on the passenger side in the lower left corner of the AC capacitor. . This one has a slightly different electrical connector that doesn't match the part and sends ambient temperature information to your electronic HVAC controls (for vehicles so equipped). I stopped checking the temperature readings in my mirror many years ago; I've always assumed that there was something wrong with the electronics in the mirror itself; decided that the replacement would be very expensive and just didn't want to bother with it. However, when I found out that the problem could be a faulty sensor not in the mirror itself, I identified/found the sensor, ordered/installed the part and now it is again showing accurate temperature readings. Spirit. This could have been easily fixed a few years ago, but everything is fine now.
