These have proven to be excellent heavy duty knurled rubber front mats for my 2000 Subaru Forester L. They fit perfectly. Carpet like the original. The manufacturer should fix this but will not do so until they are on sale. The rubber doesn't have the unwanted factory smell like the others. An IMPORTANT note for early MANUAL CLUTCH Subaru Forester owners: The clutch pedal lever IS USED ON early Foresters. When positioned so that the mounting pin secures the mat, the rear edge of the driver's mat can easily grab and hold the clutch pedal travel lever, essentially causing it to become stuck in the depressed position. To prevent this, the mat must be detached and moved forward an inch, and the mat tends to slide back because it has no gripping lugs to prevent slipping during use. My clutch got stuck twice and the second time it didn't release until I turned off the engine and moved the mat. If this happened in traffic, the results could be critical. Shift the alignment to prevent re-sticking. Will report if this isn't fully fixed.
