tight cork, brew strong kombucha

Bought to brew strong kombucha. I did this with a loose cap and no lock but wanted to upgrade to a lock. I initially had the same problem as many people said in the comments that the cork was not tight. I was able to lower it all the way down so it was level with the top of the can and watch it rise on its own. What worked was making sure the cork and inside of the jar were very dry, and then after the cork was in place, inserting the plastic part of the lock.
