This is exactly the product I needed. The project I was working on replaced the standard stereo in my 2004. Volkswagen Jetta GLS with JVC KDR840BT. I could probably replace the stereo with a simple wire harness converter or even cut the stock wire harness and hook up the radio directly to the speaker and amp audio wires. My concern was that I wouldn't be able to properly use the steering wheel controls to change the volume and tracks on the new radio. The installation of this product is very easy for people with simple wiring experience. The wires can be soldered, but I just twisted them onto the ones that came off my wire harness with the ones on that interface and wrapped them with electrical tape. The sound is great for me (much better than the cassette adapter for my iPod) and the steering wheel controls work great. There is a slight delay when switching tracks on my iPod coming from the steering wheel controls compared to switching tracks directly from the radio. One thing to watch out for is the space this device is going to take up. Make sure you can install it behind your radio or somewhere else, it came in very handy in my car.
