I had a ten year old Belkin desktop that finally started breaking a few months ago. Center cut-out to keep pens, notepads and books within easy reach. It was very uncomfortable to look at but was so useful that I kept it until the styrofoam started to crumble in my hands. I was very disappointed when I started researching options and found that lap tables had moved away from lightweight, super-hard foam. Belkin used. I wasn't sure about this table but decided to give it a try since it had so many great reviews and was the top choice for lap tables at Wirecutter. I am delighted with this table. I like the large area. I can easily fit my 15" laptop on one side and my iPhone 11 on the other and still have an angle to write on the sticker without using the built-in phone holder (which is handy too). ignore the foam balls. I sometimes have a hard time finding a comfortable position, and this desk doesn't lay flat when I place it on the floor like my Belkin did, causing my laptop to slide off if I don't find the right spot. But I'm SUPER picky about this. My only small issue with this table is that the top laminate is rough. Not super rough, but rough enough that my hand starts rubbing after using the table for a few hours. Overall this table is perfect for the job it was designed for at a reasonable price.
