Review on Dakota Alert M538-HT MURS Wireless VHF Transceiver: License Free Handheld 2-Way Radio for Multi Use Radio Service (MURS) by Issac Smart

I have purchased a Dakota Alert phone and base station and they generally work as advertised. They have a pretty good range and are very easy to use. The phone is quite bulky, but I can live with that. The main problem is that the antenna connection is not standard. One of the big advantages of MURS over bubble radios is that you can fit a longer antenna for more range, and this disadvantage negates that advantage. I searched the internet and couldn't find any antenna or adapter for this phone. If I had known about this problem before buying, I would certainly have chosen a different manufacturer. I would not recommend this product if you are looking to extend the range of your radio with a high gain antenna.
