Review on 🌬️ ARCTIC Freezer 50 TR - High-Performance Dual Tower CPU Cooler for AMD Ryzen Threadripper SP3, sTR4, with A-RGB, Two Pressure-optimised Fans, 8 Heatpipes by Matt Sirmons

Failed to clear memory

The reviews for this cooler are off the charts so I was disappointed to return it to Revain. I have an Asrock X399 Professional Gaming with 8 sticks of Gskill TridentZ memory. The memory is higher than it should be and that might be why I was having issues. But even removing the 4 brackets closest to the processor didn't provide enough room for the cooler to fit properly. I honestly don't know how to manage to install a cooler. Most RAMs, especially high-performance RAMs, have multiple heatsinks. I think to use this you need low profile DIMMs which will most likely be part of a standard server. I've looked at pictures of other X399 boards and they all have roughly the same distance between memory and CPU socket. Maybe the new sTRX4 boards are more compatible? For reference I have successfully used a Corsair H100 and a currently installed Noctua NH-U14S in a dual fan configuration. The difference in my opinion is that the Noctua fans mount differently and allow the fans to be attached to the cooler after the heatsink is installed. The fans can then be moved up and down to free the DIMMs. In my case, the Noctua fans are actually touching the memory heatsinks. On the other hand, I have had positive experiences with Arctic support and this experience has not put me off future Arctic products. And I might try again if I upgrade to 3rd gen Threadripper.
