I ordered these stones for our 20 gallon tank to look more natural. These rocks are slightly larger than typical aquarium rocks - they are at least 1 inch long or longer. In fact, they remind me of the rounded, varied rocks I've seen on the shores of Lake Erie. Since I was adding live plants, I added a smaller natural pebble substrate/mixture underneath the larger stones and the combination was perfect - smaller pebbles for plant roots and a more natural looking aquarium. Bonus: Our seaweed lovers love cleaning these rocks! Or running water and a toothbrush will suffice.
