Review on Polder 358 Ultra Probe featuring a High-Heat 40-inch Silicone Cord by Julie Henderson

Polder finally got it right - Great, improved temperature sensor design

I've tested several Polder sensors over the past two years. They always failed due to the very poor construction of the connection of the wire to the metal probe. It was a weak point that always shorted out after a few uses, rendering the Polder thermometer unusable. Some twisting and bending of the wire and probe is inevitable when placing a roast or turkey in the oven. I always had a spare supply in case there were any outages during Thanksgiving or the holidays. The new design is a definite improvement. The silicone mount not only provides an insulated place to remove the probe when hot, but also securely maintains a cable connection to the probe. 10 times in the oven and works like new. Out of habit I ordered two probes. With an improved design, each of them should last you quite a long time. It never hurts to have a spare on hand. Polder finally got it right.
