Still the best Bluetooth earphones since early 2017 (8/10). let me explain. Well, first of all, I can't believe there are so many rave reviews claiming these headphones are "the best I've heard, at any cost, wired or wireless, period". Em. Ignore the reviews on Vine. And then the one-star reviews complaining about faulty equipment β well, all electronics are susceptible to faulty equipment, and Bose has one of the best warranty policies, so please. So you're thinking of wireless in-ear headphones. As of 2017, the top two options are Bose Soundsport Wireless and Jaybird X3. Here's how they compare: SOUND (Bose: 8/10) - Very good and fun sound. Warm and slightly bassy, although deep bass and harsh highs are cut off (like most Bluetooth headphones). I wish the mids were sharper, but I'm picky here. They won't replace my wired headphones, but they certainly let me enjoy music when I'm on the go. -- Jaybird X3 (7/10): Brighter sounding headphones with less bass but cleaner mids. triple. Still pretty good. They're closer to neutral, but the high frequencies still roll off. So it comes down to personal preference. I also think it depends on your ear fit and if you get a better fit than I did then your experience may vary (bass is the first thing that goes with a bad fit). COMFORT (Bose: 10/10) - - I don't usually give A's, but Bose really deserves a top ten. This is a Bose store. Despite the ugly bulky appearance, the headphones are incredibly comfortable and the cables don't get in the way. -- Jaybird X3 (8/10): They have average comfort, like most other in-ear headphones. Wings help a little. The cables are heavy and pull on the headphones when I move around a lot. Overall, significantly less comfortable than the Bose. PRICE (Bose: $149) β Bose is expensive. They are notoriously expensive/overpriced and discounts are hard to come by. Jaybird X3 ($99). This is definitely a great deal and you can often find cheaper deals. OTHER - Bose remote buttons are strange to press. The buttons are large, not very clicky, generally inconvenient to work with them. Jaybirds feel better. The battery life is given as 6 hours. I get about 7 hours. I want this to last longer. Jaybirds are advertised at 8 but I get at 7, as does Bose. - Bose looks ugly if you care about these things. Jays look prettier. I personally don't care. Bose offers a more useful case. Jaybird body opening is too small and inconvenient for daily use. Overall, the Bose Soundsport Wireless is extremely comfortable and sounds great. I wish the battery had lasted longer, but I don't think competitors (as of 2017) offer significantly better battery life. Until then, Bose are still the best Bluetooth in-ear headphones out there.
