All current product images show this rug laid with a rug outside the home. This is a great idea and was our original intent as my wife doesn't like much these days more than a few layers of rug. However, once the rug arrived, we quickly realized that it could help us solve a recurring problem in our home's decor. As mentioned in the product listing, this rug is deliberately cut slightly larger than a typical hallway rug. We've put a stiff bristle welcome mat outside so people can dry their feet, but we also have a mat or rug in the doorway, mainly because we think it looks good. The problem we often run into is that standard sized doormats are almost as wide as our front door. As a result, over time, when opening, our front door always lifts the first corner it touches, eventually leading to greater mat fold and therefore a problem opening the door. Because this mat can be centered on the inside of the door with all four corners outside of the swing angle of the door, we avoid twisting the corners. Fabulous! Of course, now that we understand how well this rug solves our very pesky problem, we feel a little silly that we didn't try harder to find a rug that was a little bigger. Aside from the rug sizes, which we're obviously big fans of, we also really like the simple but vibrant colors and patterns. The contrast is sharp and the colors go well with our current hallway decor. The rug is also well constructed with materials that appear to be of quality. With a gap of about a millimeter between the carpet and the bottom of the front door, the quality of construction is important. Any loose threads or protruding ends will create a snag that will bring us back to our original problem. Fortunately, that is not the case with this carpet. We love it!
