The rim of the cup where it meets your lips is uncomfortably thin, very square and unfinished. The mug itself has a satin finish making it easy to pick up. It's not slippery, so the full fits and feels good in the hand. However, they didn't seem to pay attention to the rim, which is where you'll be sipping. It has a thin, almost sharp, square edge. Since I'd already disposed of the box it arrived in and washed the cups, I decided to gently round the edges with my diamond nail file. It really helped, but it will take some time to round and smooth that thin edge as you bring this cup to your mouth. The mug itself feels strong and tough, but with a rim this thin I don't know how strong this mug will be. With the edge as it was sent to me, I would not have thought of giving it away.
