I love this thing. Think pliers from the 90s but actually looks natural. I kept getting "dents" in my hair the first time I used it, but I soon realized it was the angle I was holding it at. Adjusting how I held it fixed it and I loved the thing. I started by going through all the hair, only holding each strand for about 2-3 seconds. This created a really light beach wave look. Then I ran each section for 5-10 seconds and held it on the curler and this gave the wave a more defined look. After that I kept playing with it and found that by holding it at an angle you can create really fun, unique waves, and even twisting your hair can create different, almost painted waves. I wouldn't call it a curler, more like a breakwater, if that's anything. But I'm so glad I have it.
