After careful research we chose this bag because it met our needs and was several times cheaper than a roof rack and travel box. Given that we'll likely be using it 2 or 3 times a year, it's a lot easier to spend $120 than it is to spend $1,000 installing a rack. First, it's pretty big. We used it on a 2016 Ford Explorer and as there was nothing to attach the bag to the roof rack it secured through the doors. This results in a slight increase in road noise, but nothing distracts us from our 300-mile one-way drive. It didn't rain, so I can't comment on the water resistance. As the bag is pretty, make sure you fill it as directed. I put the heavier items in the back of the bag. We cruised at 74 mph while cruising, briefly picking up speed to pass a truck or other vehicle, and experienced no shifts or bag movements. I have to say I was a bit skeptical about the whole set, especially what needs fixing through the doors, but I'm very impressed. As the front of the bag can contain quite a bit of dirt, bugs etc after a ride, I recommend cleaning it while the bag is full and attached to the car before removing the contents and removing the bag. It just makes cleaning easier.
