The best invention for texture knockdown

I had 2 long microcracks on the kitchen ceiling with a small step and 1 long one in the living room. Our house is only 6 years old. We knew the drywall wasn't coming back and with the budget I figured I'd do the repairs myself as my neck fusion husband wouldn't be able to do it. I'm new to drywall. I first bought a good quality putty knife called Dap Alex in a container, applied it with a 2" flexible spatula, let it dry thoroughly, then sanded smooth. A few days later I received this miracle tool and used it with a pre-made sealer. I used 3 small pieces of tape on the 3 corners of the stencil to hold it snugly to the ceiling and used a 4 inch plastic spatula and gently spread the compound over the stencil being careful not to get any streaks or bumps left. As I started the next stain and I had a line from the end of the last one, I held the stencil with just my hand and carefully, using a spatula, stroked that area lightly and it disappeared and blended perfectly. The main thing is to make clean strokes and make sure they are smooth before moving on to the next area. I'm a grandma and not a drywall specialist, but I think I did a good job. The drywall wasn't perfect either. I highly recommend this template. Be sure to wash well and store between boxes to keep them from bending. I changed the tape about every third repair, so the stick was fine.
