Great communication tool

Radio works great. I used it on a simplex with PL tone for communication during an event this summer. The tone was perfect. The radio is faster for communication than texting or calling because it takes longer to type a message or it takes longer for the carrier to make a call. I used a common frequency to contact someone using an FRS radio because she does not have a GMRS license and is not a next of kin. This makes this radio more versatile. I also programmed three local repeaters (some of them connected to other systems). I've spoken to other GMRS licensees from our neighboring county and two states. I can only access a repeater that is over 15 miles away with a standard antenna. I have an adapter that I use with a 2m/70cm dual band 1/4 wave antenna in the car which is great for extending the radio range. If the repeater antenna is installed on a high tower, you can use it to communicate in several counties.

Cons
