Review on πŸ’» Transcend USB 3.1 Gen1 Card Reader, TS-RDF5W (White) - High Speed SDHC/microSDXC Card Reader by Scott Channell

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Disappointed at first, now just annoyed

I purchased this unit on July 5th, 2018. my system! I tried different ways and even updated the firmware from Transcend website but nothing works. As if he didn't exist. Unfortunately, Revain's return window is already closed, otherwise it will be returned as soon as possible. - - - - - -Update for anyone who might help! My system is running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I have half a dozen SD cards that I have used before and they have all been in good condition. Before I threw this card reader in the trash, I decided to look under the hood for a solution. Device Manager showed the Transcend reading list under drives, but I still didn't have the contents list in Windows Explorer. So I went into Disk Management and on a whim assigned the Transcend reader a drive letter (any unused letter will do). Voila! Suddenly everything works/shows as it should. I have double checked all my SD cards and all the contents and labels of the cards are the same as I left them and copying some test files to each card when connected to a Transcend reader worked great. I'm downgrading my rating from one to three. Stars - but no higher - as there is absolutely NO reason Transcend shouldn't have listed this anywhere on their packaging or in the product description here on Revain.

Pros
  • High test scores for grip and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
