Review on Zippo 40285 Black Hand Warmer by Jacqueline Mclaurin

My brother had one when I was a kid but I somehow didn't manage to get it or felt the need to get it until this winter . Mine arrived a week ago. I read almost all the reviews, tips and tricks and I really wanted to try it. First let me say that my first time was in the worst conditions you can ever experience. Not only was it my first time, it was outside in the 20s and my lighter fluid was at least 15 years old. (Maybe older! Never used except removing sticky labels.) I filled it to the 1/2 mark on the filler the night before and placed it in a snack size ziplock bag the night before. It was "difficult to light" but I'm not sure if my expectations were too high or if the really old lighter fluid was to blame. However, I finally lit it up and felt like it was heating up. The first 15 minutes or so wasn't particularly hot, then warmed up. 20 minutes and it was nice and warm and I felt great in my shirt pocket. Keeps me warm on a 40 minute commute to work. After I got to work I put it back in the ziplock bag and after 30 minutes it felt cool. (And the bag didn't melt either.) In 10 days my little son and I are going to another scout camp. Last time we were there we froze our umbwi bwi. We literally had to shelter under the shower with running water to warm up a bit. I look forward to getting them (I ordered another one today) along with some fresh lighter fluid this time. (The temperature is expected to drop by around 34°)
