Review on πŸ“‘ Eighwood Dual Band UHF VHF Antenna Mount for Car Truck Two Way Radio - 144MHz 430MHz, NMO Ham Mobile Radio Antenna by Vedprakash Trilltight

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Looks really cool, will NEVER use it for broadcasting!

Bought hoping to use it on medium power local 2M-70CM repeaters as most of the repeaters here are at high altitude and have wide coverage. I'm sure he would have done a great job until I put an E-Meter on him and I'm glad I did (as I was taught from the start). Judging by the photos it looks great on the roof of my SUV, but it only took me a look at 2 meters to order another HP-72BNMO (compact dual band to the left of this antenna). The SWR at 144.661 was 1.7:1, 146.518 was 3.5:1 and 147.344 was almost 5:1. I didn't even bother with the 440 because that antenna is not good. I used NR-72 on the other side of this mount and it was 1.3:1 at 146.518 which is very good! The received signal was significantly lower on the local repeaters (which are in HT range) than on the NR-72. This antenna is worthless except as an addition to my antenna stack in the garage.

Pros
  • Operating Frequency - VHF: 136-174MHz; UHF:400-470MHZ
Cons
  • Expensive
