As a home musician, this mic definitely met my needs. I have had an AKG Perception 120 (old model) for a long time and have never had a problem with this mic. The main reason I bought the P220 was so I could change the settings to have one mic for vocal recording (P220) and another mic for YouTube video recording (Perception 120). The Shock Mount for the P220 is used for the Perception 120 and is perfect for the microphone. Both mics are basically the same size, so I figured that would work. The build quality of the P220 is solid and reliable, and the features are very basic. You have 2 main options: Bass rolloff is disabled, which is great if you want to record without having to deal with the unwanted low frequencies the microphone picks up. Another setting attenuates the signal by 20 dB. In my experience it's best used when you have a loud background and don't want it seeping into your mic. This basically isolates the signal so that it's only audible from directly in front of the mic and not everyone around. I'd be lying if I said there are things I don't like (because I just LOVE AKG products), but for other people this mic may seem a little too basic compared to other more expensive mics. This mic's sound is warmer and more direct than the AKG Perception 120, so I found it better suited for recording vocals. However, the Perception 120 still crushes it in the studio. Some people might find the sound taste different than other mics, but for me this mic is perfect for my needs.
