I have used them with both the sharp metal blades and the plastic blades included in the kit. Work very well on glass panels for color. You must be just as careful with metal razor blades as you are with any other tool holding them. I use Stubby the most. One thing I did with it to clean up the edges of the sculptor's paint to get the best angle was to hold the end of the pen on the glass while I push or pull it around the edges. It does an excellent job of removing excess paint at the best angle. One thing I don't like is how far the nut of the machine screw sticks out as it can pull hard on the surface, which isn't good for softer surfaces like wood or fiberglass. . I think it can also scratch the glass if you're not careful, but it didn't. Changing blades is a pain, you know what. You have to take everything apart and it can be difficult to rethread faster threads and while doing so the blade can come loose. I think with more practice it might be easier but still a pain.
