Review on Effortlessly Slice Vegetables with Benriner No. 64 Japanese Mandolin Ivory Vegetable Slicer by Maria Gray

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Poor quality, boring, dangerous

I cook a lot and needed a new mandolin and found it at Revain with good reviews. Too bad someone didn't write what I'm writing right now. The blade of this mandolin dulls too quickly and cannot be sharpened. I've used it maybe less than 10 times just as a vegetable cutter. A dull blade is very dangerous because when you run a vegetable you also cut it slowly, it will stick to the blade without cutting it and if you run too fast you will end up quickly and you can get yourself slicing hurt your fingers. In addition, the protection is poorly designed. They cut, but they're longer than the edge of the guard itself. The problem with this is that as you get close to the end - maybe half an inch of zucchini - when you really need the protection to work well - you end up dying Cut pins that hold the Heaney-Zuk and the cut plastic pieces turn into a bowl that you can use to collect chopped veggies. Both of these issues make the product a security risk. I wouldn't buy this again.

Pros
  • grating, paring and slicing knife
Cons
  • poorly thought out
