I used them to grind valves in a jeep engine. Intake was about 1.75 and exhaust was about 1.45. The big bowl of the big lap worked great on the air intakes, however they are poorly designed and it's easy to clench your hands. If the wooden handles were larger in diameter, they would work much better. The same if they had a rubber cap on the handle. The smaller tool's larger cup was used on the exhaust valves, but the durometer of the rubber is too harsh and therefore never gave full suction. For a smaller tool to work well, the rubber needs to be weaker than the existing structure.
