I bought a GlobalSat BR-355S4 (the one with the PS/2 connector, not the one with the USB connector) to connect the GPS input of the Uniden UM385 VHF Marine to provide transceivers. It worked great and only required three wires to connect, although you do need to provide a separate 5V DC power supply. The attached image shows the radio with "GPS Data OK" along with pinout information for both modules. Connect GlobalSat Pin5 TX to the yellow Uniden: NMEA_IN+. grounding Connect the GlobalSat Pin2 VCC to a +5V supply. For my 5V supply I used a 12V USB cigarette lighter charger; You will find 5V in the middle of the two conductors. (Google USB pinout.) Check your recycle bin; You probably have something with a USB plug. Just plug it into your cigarette lighter charger, cut off the other end, then use a voltmeter to locate the two 5v wires. You can find more information about the GPS device on the GlobalSat website, although you can probably do whatever you need to do. from the picture here. If you can read simple pinout diagrams and solder wires, you can do it. I was amazed at how quickly everything came together. At the touch of a button, the radio now displays latitude, longitude, course and speed in knots. Pretty smooth.
