Review on πŸ“‘ Tram 1410 Broadband Discone Base Antenna for Scanners by Andargie Marquez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Seems set up well on AV gear

Post install update: My old antenna finally melted in a hurricane a few weeks ago. I installed a new antenna over the weekend and am very happy. Reception on 700/800/900MHz has improved a lot. UHF has also improved, but not as much as on the higher frequencies.. Somewhat surprisingly, this scanner is slightly less visible than the old one. Which I don't care but might make the neighbors happier First review, I'll update once the antenna is up and running. A few design notes. All hardware is metric. Nuts are 7mm and bolts require a 3.0 hex wrench. No wonder since they are made in Taiwan. before mounting on all radials. They give extra density and I don't want to hunt free radials in the future. There were some comments about adding a vertical whip. As far as I can tell it would be easier to buy the 1411 streetcar for the extra $14. If you really need a low frequency band then this is what you need.

Pros
  • Max mast diameter 1 3/8 inch
Cons
  • Not bad but...
