My old PC has a dual-port graphics card. I really needed to run a third monitor. The HDMI port on the motherboard WAS available, but my nifty third monitor only supports VGA, so I had to convert HDMI to VGA. At first I thought I needed a dongle that I could just plug into the PC end of the cable. Turns out this would overflow the connectors and wouldn't fit. This little adapter is actually a cable about six inches long - long enough to unplug the connector from the PC. Worked great from the first shot, no problems arose in two weeks of use. I am completely satisfied and glad that I chose this option.
