I have a tripod mount on my Jeep's dash. I originally had a clip mount for my phone (Oneplus 5t) which worked well on and off road. I wanted the ease of use of a magnetic mount like in my other cars so I bought one for the Jeep. It turned out that the magnets inside are not strong enough. My phone doesn't fall, but it does tilt when riding and hitting bumps, horizontally rather than vertically. Also, the screw that attaches the magnets to the cup holder has already been removed by me twice in a few months. Loosening this screw allows the magnets to rotate about 1/4 inch no matter how tight you lock the ball/cup mount. If it comes loose again I'll probably put some Loctite 222 on the screw. Off-road, forget it. My phone will fall. I should have just stuck to my original plan and made my own mount with stronger magnets.
