Review on PlexiDor Performance Pet Doors Medium by Donna Colbert

Design flaws are good for doors, gates and ramps

I would give this door 5 stars but there are two design flaws that for the money shouldn't be. The first problem is that you have to leave the key inside while the door is open. This probably won't be a problem but if you leave the key inside there is a risk of the key breaking off and that will be a big problem as it takes a lot of work to install this door and having to replace it is a nightmare, not to mention the high cost. In addition to having to leave the key with the door open, the lever that keeps the doors closed when in the locked position is lowered when the door is open, causing my dogs to bang their heads on it rub when they get in and out and this prevents the doors from opening and closing normally. So I have to put the key in a certain spot so the latch doesn't get in the way and the dogs don't rub against it. It is also the only way to properly open and close doors. As expensive as this door may be, it surely needs to have a better design. In addition, the protective cover has to be screwed down every time you use it, which is very cumbersome in everyday use. We actually added a door frame and door in front of a bolted dog door as our security door. Apart from these things the door is solid, good quality, the instructions are very easy to follow, it's pretty and the dogs love it. To be honest I'm not sure I would actually buy this door again as with the modifications we had to make we were able to spend a lot less and still have the function we wanted.
